Job Description


Job Title:             Accounting Specialist II


An Accounting Specialist II will ensure the timely and accurate completion of bank accounting functions including the resolution of issues as well as continuous process improvement to maximize efficiency.  Comply with bank policies and accounting procedures.  Contribute and participate as part of the Accounting team with a strong commitment to meeting all deadlines and established goals.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform accounting tasks, including journal entry transactions.
  • Prepare various GL account reconciliations, including Official Checks and Prepaids
  • Responsible for Investment Accounting.
  • Responsible for SBA/USDA Accounting.
  • Responsible for Bank subsidiary accounting and preparation of financials.
  • Prepare various regulatory reports including FR2900 and SOD.
  • Assist in preparation of bank regulatory Call Report.
  • Assist in Audit and regulatory requests.
  • Research and document accounting treatment (e.g. FASB91 analysis, treatment of equity securities, goodwill impairment, etc.)
  • Manage the retiree plan (pension, prescription reimbursements and health care).
  • Accounts Payable
  • Wires and ACH function
  • Entirely cross trained on month-end close process.
  • Other Accounting projects as assigned.

Key Deliverables:  Accuracy, Timeliness, Efficiency, Independent Judgement, Prioritize and Quality Work

Organizational Structure:  Reports to Controller

Career Path:  Accounting Specialist III (based on Performance and Development)



  • 3 years Accounting experience
  • Banking experience preferred
  • Accounting Degree preferred


  • General Accounting Principles
  • High proficiency in MS Office and Excel
